How I Got My Degree Without Starting Over – My ETEEAP Journey

Episode Length: ~10 minutes

Can you really earn a college degree without starting from scratch?

Yes. I did.
And in this episode—my very first podcast—I talk about how I did it through ETEEAP, the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program here in the Philippines.

What You’ll Hear in This Episode

I share my personal experience as a full-time digital professional who didn’t follow the traditional path to graduation. For years, I worked in digital marketing, virtual assistance, and project management—but I didn’t have a college diploma. That changed when I discovered ETEEAP.

ETEEAP is a CHED-accredited program that allows working professionals to earn a degree based on their job experience, skills, and accomplishments.

With your right knee still gently cradled close to your chest, it’s time to transition to the next step of this tranquil yoga sequence. In Step 3, you’ll raise both of your hands, extending your arms towards the sky in a seamless and graceful motion. This step encapsulates the essence of yoga, emphasizing the unity of breath and movement and the liberation of the spirit. As you inhale deeply, visualize your breath infusing your body with vitality. Simultaneously, raise both of your hands, extending them towards the heavens. Let this motion be smooth and flowing, mirroring the effortless grace of a tree swaying in the breeze. It’s a symbol of openness and acceptance. The raising of your hands is a metaphorical embrace of the present moment. Each lift of your arms symbolizes a fresh start, a new opportunity, and a chance to let go of any burdens you may be carrying. This act of elevation reminds you that, just as the sky is limitless, so are your possibilities.

What is ETEEAP?

In a nutshell:

ETEEAP allows you to convert your years of professional experience into academic credits, meaning you can skip general subjects and earn a degree faster, without starting from Year 1.

It’s ideal for:

  • OFWs
  • Long-time employees
  • Freelancers
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Anyone 25 years and older with at least 5 years of work experience
What Are the Requirements?

In the episode, I break down everything I had to prepare, including:

  • Updated résumé and portfolio
  • Certificate of employment
  • Government-issued ID and PSA birth certificate
  • High school diploma or college TOR (if available)
  • Training and seminar certificates
  • And more, depending on the school

Yes, it’s paperwork-heavy, but so worth it.

Why I Did It

For me, ETEEAP wasn’t just about the diploma.

It was about finishing something for myself.

A personal win after more than a decade in the workforce, and a way to honor everything I’ve already learned by doing.

Is ETEEAP for You?

If you’ve ever felt “too late” or “too busy” to go back to school, this episode is a sign that you’re not alone—and that there’s a path for you.

  • How the ETEEAP process works
